About the position

The Head Flag Football Coach at Washington Adventist University (WAU) is responsible for developing and leading a competitive intercollegiate flag football program. This role involves coaching student-athletes, managing the program's budget, ensuring compliance with athletic regulations, and fostering a positive team culture. The coach will collaborate with various departments within the university and is expected to uphold the institution's values and mission of producing competent and morally responsible graduates.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a competitive intercollegiate athletic program consistent with WAU's values and core pillars.
  • Coach and supervise Assistant Coaches and support staff.
  • Ensure compliance with rules and regulations of all conference and national athletic affiliations.
  • Responsible for all aspects of program recruiting within WAU and NAIA guidelines.
  • Manage the program's budget within assigned funding levels.
  • Monitor academic progress of team members.
  • Collaborate with the Sports Information Director to maintain accurate player profiles and statistics.
  • Communicate regularly with Athletic Training staff to ensure the health and well-being of student-athletes.
  • Arrange travel plans and coordinate scheduling with the Director of Athletics.
  • Ensure student-athletes' compliance with WAU policies applicable to all students.
  • Mentor and develop a positive and welcoming culture for student-athletes.
  • Complete required NAIA Coaching Course (Champion of Characters).
  • Attend the beginning of the year Orientation & Athletics Banquet.
  • Recruit a minimum of 16 players.

  • Experience in coaching flag football or a related sport.
  • In-depth knowledge of flag football rules and strategies.
  • Ability to manage a budget and adhere to funding levels.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to student-athlete development and well-being.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with various departments.

  • Experience in intercollegiate athletics administration.
