About the position

The Head Boys Volleyball Coach at Tualatin High School is responsible for developing, articulating, and implementing a vision for the volleyball team. This position requires a commitment to fostering a positive environment for student athletes and ensuring their academic and athletic success. The coach will oversee the hiring of assistant coaches, determine the system of play, and develop off-season programs for athletes. The role also involves advocating for multi-sport athletes and maintaining high expectations for both student athletes and coaching staff. Communication with parents and collaboration with school administrators are essential components of this position.

Responsibilities

  • Hire assistants for the volleyball program
  • Determine the system of play to be used
  • Develop and implement an off-season program for athletes
  • Advocate for multi-sport athletes
  • Responsible for sports academic improvement/accountability
  • Hold all student athletes and coaching staff to high expectations
  • Communicate with parents as necessary
  • Follow District standards including reporting concerns, abuse and infractions of student handbook policies
  • Work effectively and collaborate with the building administrator and work team
  • Understand and comply with Oregon Teacher's Standards of Competent and Ethical Performance

Requirements

  • Possess the mental and physical skills and abilities to make independent judgments within prescribed policies and procedures
  • Employ good judgment in a variety of situations, including emergencies
  • Work with a variety of students and demonstrate a willingness to gain the information and training necessary to work effectively
  • Possess the characteristics and understanding to be an effective member of an educational support team
  • Comprehend and follow oral and written instructions and complete work within established timelines
  • Communicate with appropriate student age group requiring the exercise of both empathetic and disciplinarian approaches
  • Maintain a confidential, non-preferential manner and non-judgmental attitude towards the students, staff, and program
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with supervisor, staff, and general public
