About the position

The Hazmat Instructor is responsible for conducting, developing, and revising hazmat training courses, ensuring that all training materials and aids are prepared and maintained. This role involves interacting positively with clients and staff, assisting with course equipment maintenance, and delivering emergency response training. The instructor will also be involved in the development of training aids and lesson plans, and is expected to facilitate various training methods including virtual and simulation-based training.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct and deliver hazmat training courses.
  • Develop and update training aids, audio/visual materials, and lesson plans.
  • Assist with maintenance and inventory of course equipment.
  • Interact positively and professionally with clients and staff.
  • Ensure all training materials and classrooms are ready for clients.
  • Submit required reports for assigned courses within 3 working days of completion.
  • Review and update course syllabus, lesson plans, and student materials as needed.
  • Assist with inventory control for course delivery of equipment.
  • Submit reports and documentation in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Four years of experience in a hazmat-related field.
  • Experience in developing and delivering emergency response training.
  • One year of experience in adult education and/or training.
  • Valid motor vehicle operator's license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
  • Valid Class A CDL or ability to obtain within 180 days of employment.
  • Valid passport or ability to obtain within 180 days of employment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Six years of experience in a hazmat-related field.
  • Class A CDL.
