About the position

The position requires a dedicated educator who will provide instruction in core academic subjects to students in a multi-grade setting. The educator will be responsible for preparing and delivering standards-based lessons, assessing student performance, and differentiating instruction to meet the diverse needs of students. The role also involves maintaining accurate records, communicating with various stakeholders, and participating in professional development to enhance teaching effectiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Provides students instruction in the core academic subjects using a variety of instructional strategies.
  • Prepares and delivers standards-based lessons in a multi-grade setting.
  • Assesses students' academic performance for the purpose of monitoring learning and student growth as per state-required testing and forming student Individual Learning Plan.
  • Differentiates instruction for students while closing the gap between student performance and grade-level standards.
  • Maintains attendance records, pupil assessment records, report cards, transcripts, and other reports as required.
  • Communicates with authorized agencies, school district/school, parents, guardians, and/or foster parents for the purpose of exchanging educational records; providing attendance, behavior, and academic progress; and holding parent conferences.
  • Integrates technology, social improvement skills, and character education into the educational program for the purpose of improving computer skills and research skills; addressing the social issues exhibited by students, and improving ethical decision-making skills.
  • Collaborates and works effectively with various teams.
  • Communicates with student's counselor, School Social Worker, therapist, psychologist, and parent for the purpose of following-up with student's progress and needs in order for the student to be successful with prescribed goals.
  • Maintains professional competence through participation in professional development provided by or assigned by the District.
  • Holds students accountable for appropriate conduct for the purpose of maintaining appropriate classroom control.
  • Participates in faculty and/or District meetings to address student needs.
  • Provides service to students through Tier 2 Interventions to include, but not limited to; Alternatives to Suspension, Behavior Contracts, Behavior Intervention Plan, Structured Breaks, Check In Check Out, Daily Behavior Monitoring Form Completion.
  • Maintains an orderly, nurturing, and safe learning environment for the purpose of ensuring student safety and consistent control over students based on rules governing student behavior.
  • Provides input on the overall program quality and program safety for the purpose of adjusting the educational program to meet the changing needs of students.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Superintendent or designee.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree, including all courses needed to meet credential requirements.
  • Valid California teaching credential authorizing service in grade levels and areas assigned.
  • Must meet highly qualified teacher requirements.
  • Must have ELL authorization.
  • Must be able to work effectively with administrators, staff, parents, and community.
