About the position

The Group Sales Manager at Lodging Dynamics is responsible for selling hotel guestrooms, catering services, and banquet facilities. This role involves researching and developing new business opportunities while maintaining direct client contact to maximize revenue and profits for the hotel. The position requires a balance of strategic administrative tasks and tactical sales execution, with a focus on building relationships with key clients and ensuring sales expectations are met or exceeded.

Responsibilities

  • Establish a client base of organizations, associations, social groups, and corporate businesses through direct outside and inside sales.
  • Ensure that predetermined sales expectations are met or exceeded.
  • Manage daily schedule to achieve 25% strategic administrative time and 75% tactical sales execution time.
  • Conduct tours and answer questions for walk-in and call-in customers, directing them to other sales staff members if appropriate.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key clients to produce group and/or convention business.
  • Document all sales activities into Sales Pro in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Negotiate guest room rates, meeting room rental, function space, and hotel services within approved booking guidelines.
  • Confirm agreements in writing and forward documents to clients and affected hotel departments.
  • Conduct tours of the hotel and banquet facilities; entertain qualified potential clients according to company policies.
  • Forecast and accurately record all bookings and cancellations.
  • Assist the Director of Sales with the implementation and achievement of the Sales Marketing plan.
  • Actively participate in various industry networking groups and events.
  • Spend a majority of time each week away from the hotel conducting outside sales calls and sales blitzes.
  • Provide administrative support to the Sales team/office.
  • Meet with F&B staff daily to review catering summary (if applicable).
  • Respond quickly to guest requests in a friendly manner and follow up to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Maintain a professional image at all times through appearance and dress.
  • Meet with planners after their event to discuss success and deficiencies, and to re-book business.
  • Follow company policies and procedures and effectively communicate them to subordinates.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of three years' work experience in sales field is preferred.
  • Multi-property experience preferred.
  • Delphi experience.
  • Hilton and Marriott experience.
