About the position
The Group Leader position at the YMCA Y Scholars Program is a part-time role focused on working with youth in grades K-8. The role involves supervising students, planning and leading daily activities, and fostering a safe and engaging learning environment. This position is essential for promoting leadership, creativity, and healthy habits among students, aligning with the YMCA's mission to develop youth's voice and emotional intelligence.
Responsibilities
- Supervise groups of 15-20 students
- Plan lessons and lead daily activities (academic, creative, and physical)
- Record and track attendance
- Collaborate with team to create a clean and safe learning environment
Requirements
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Have completed 48 college units or passed the Instructional Aid (IA) Exam
- Pass DOJ/FBI criminal background check
- Have CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications within 30 days of hire
