About the position

The Groundskeeper is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of all outdoor areas at the client location, including lawns, fields, pathways, and parking lots. This role involves a variety of tasks aimed at ensuring the aesthetic and functional quality of the grounds, utilizing various tools and equipment to perform landscaping and maintenance duties.

Responsibilities

• Mow lawns using hand or power mowers.
• Trim and edge around walks, flower beds, and walls using clippers and edging tools.
• Prune shrubs and trees to improve growth or remove damaged parts using shears or chain saws.
• Spray lawns, shrubs, and trees with fertilizers and pesticides using sprayers.
• Rake and bag or burn leaves using a rake.
• Clean grounds and remove litter using a broom or spiked stick.
• Plant grass, flowers, trees, and shrubs using gardening tools.
• Water lawns and shrubs using hoses or sprinkler systems.
• Repair fences, gates, walls, and walks using carpentry and masonry tools.
• Clean out drainage ditches and culverts using shovels and rakes.
• Perform grounds maintenance tasks using tractors equipped with various attachments.
• Sharpen tools such as weed cutters and shears using a file or knife sharpener.
• Follow all health and safety rules and regulations specific to C&W Services and the site.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalency required.
• Completion of an accredited apprentice program or trade school is a plus.
• Three years of experience as a groundskeeper, with familiarity in grounds maintenance for similar facilities.
• Multi-skill set knowledge in landscaping, irrigation, and equipment operation is necessary.
• Ability and willingness to work rotational shifts, including days, evenings, nights, overtime, weekends, and holidays as required.
• Ability to lift heavy objects up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to operate golf carts and other motor vehicles.
