About the position
The Grounds & Nursery Services Specialist is responsible for maintaining the grounds and landscapes for Lower Columbia College's campus. The Grounds & Nursery Services Specialist reports to the Grounds Supervisor. Schedule varies and is flexible. This position is classified as a Grounds & Nursery Services Specialist 1 under the State of Washington Class Specification. This position is temporary part-time not to exceed 1,050 hours in a consecutive 12-month period. This position is limited to 75 hours or less per month, typically 19 hours per week.
Responsibilities
- Seeds, mows, irrigates, sweeps, fertilizes, top dresses, edges and maintains lawns
- Plants, transplants, trims, and waters plants, trees, flowers and shrubs
- Uses a variety of manual tools and equipment, such as rakes, hand edger's, loppers, shovels, wheelbarrows, weeding forks, hoes, and pruning shears
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Valid driver's license
- Excellent communication and time management skills
- Experienced in maintenance / custodial field
Nice-to-haves
- Previous experience or training involving grounds maintenance, gardening, plant care, cultivation, and landscape installation
