Requirements

  • The ability to properly read grade and use a laser level unassisted is required.
  • Proven ability to lead by example, motivate a team, and make practical on-site decisions.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
  • Must be willing to learn and take direction.
  • Must be able to communicate well with co-workers.
  • Ability to perform strenuous repetitive tasks, regularly lift and carry weights exceeding 50 lbs, and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • A valid driver's license(class 5) is required.
  • A driver's abstract is required and must be obtained no more than 30 days prior to employment start date.
  • Must be able to work under pressure in some situations.
  • Must be able to meet all safety requirements and applicable safety policies
  • Work overtime as required.
  • Proficient English language skills required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the site foreman by delegating tasks, ensuring quality control, mentoring workers, and executing hands-on duties to keep the project on schedule.
  • Assist the foreman by tracking daily timecards, documenting project quantities, and logging equipment usage or deliveries.
  • Perform regular skilled construction work alongside the crew.
  • Use survey instruments to establish correct grade for construction projects with the ability to read plans.
  • Able to communicate will with all operators.
  • Achieve the correct grade by directing operators of equipment to adjust grade by moving earth, gravel, and other material.
  • Be able to identify hazards on site.
  • Must be willing and able to learn general construction practices involving road construction.
  • Have a understanding of the issues involving ground disturbance and ability to work in and implement safe work practices and contribute to a safe work environment.
