About the position

The Governor's Summer Internship Program (GSI) offers college students hands-on experience in their field of study, enhancing their marketability upon graduation. The MPH Communications Intern will support the Indiana Management Performance Hub's communications and marketing efforts, focusing on storytelling and the impact of data. This role involves crafting engaging content, managing social media, and collaborating with various stakeholders to promote data-driven decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and execute one major project related to agency needs and academic area of study
  • Create, develop, and sustain the programmatic efforts for the assigned discipline
  • Analyze data and feedback to provide recommendations
  • Partner with other relevant stakeholders to promote and enhance the quality of projects
  • Collaborate with State of Indiana agencies to ensure effective implementation of internal and external initiatives
  • Develop content and digital materials for internal and external marketing campaigns
  • Craft engaging social media posts for agency's Twitter and LinkedIn accounts
  • Develop and edit content for placement on agency website using content management system
  • Produce well-written, concise content for agency emails, reports and policies
  • Edit compelling, shareable online video using new and/or stock footage
  • Manage strategic schedules and task assignments for agency email campaigns
  • Assist with the production of e-newsletters for internal and external audiences
  • Monitor analytics to refine newsletter and other email communications

Requirements

  • Must be currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate with an accredited post-secondary institution and have completed at least one (1) year of undergraduate education
  • Academic work in related field
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to analyze datasets related to discipline
  • Ability to build relationships, establish credibility, and influence leaders at all levels
  • Ability to conduct well-informed research
  • Ability to solve complex, critical problems
  • Ability to review and make recommendations on proposed changes to relevant policies and procedures
  • Excellent content management, organizational, project management, written and verbal communications skills
  • Experience with digital analytics tracking and reporting tools
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (i.e. Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, InDesign) or other online design software tools
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Teams and SharePoint
  • Experience with video and photography equipment
  • Experience with digital communications platforms for social media and email marketing
  • Strong eye for design and visual language

Benefits

  • This seasonal position does not offer benefits and is limited to 180 working days in an eleven (11) month continuous period
