About the position

The Global Senior Engineer at Viskase Companies is a pivotal role within the Corporate Engineering team, focusing on project management for significant capital projects, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, and serving as the primary engineering contact for global insurance matters. This position requires a blend of technical expertise and leadership skills to oversee engineering solutions across multiple facilities, including international locations.

Responsibilities

  • Apply scientific and engineering principles to improve processes and equipment.
  • Organize, plan, and execute projects while working within budgets and schedules.
  • Prepare labor estimates, budgets, timetables, and resources.
  • Act as the primary engineering contact for the global insurance carrier for site improvements.
  • Review modifications or new systems handling hazardous chemicals for safety compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with pollution regulations and assist with permits and regulatory communication.
  • Manage third-party engineers and consultants, preparing specifications for contracts.
  • Administer the Capex workflow system, reviewing and approving requests as needed.
  • Define project goals, communicate with stakeholders, and lead projects to closure.
  • Provide oversight for building projects, ensuring alignment with project goals.
  • Mentor junior personnel, interns, co-ops, contractors, and vendors.
  • Be present onsite during construction for project reviews and issue tracking.

Requirements

  • BS Degree in Project Management, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 10+ years in Engineering with progressively increasing responsibilities.
  • Industrial Manufacturing experience required; chemical experience preferred.
  • Experience with production lines, utilities, piping, steam systems, and process handling equipment.
  • Experience participating in cross-functional teams.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and functional ability in Microsoft Project.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) certification is ideal but not required.
