About the position

The Global Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for overseeing the organization's compliance with OSHA regulations and developing strategies to identify and prevent occupational safety and health hazards. This role involves creating policies, training staff, and managing environmental compliance across multiple sites to ensure a safe workplace.

Responsibilities

  • Develop strategies and systems to identify, assess, and manage workplace safety risks effectively.
  • Create policies, initiatives, and projects to mitigate hazards.
  • Stay updated on Federal, State, and Local pollution control laws, regulations, permits, licenses, and orders.
  • Implement environmental policies to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Build and oversee air and water pollution control systems.
  • Provide training to staff on hazardous waste, air pollution control, and wastewater treatment.
  • Identify and monitor hazard priorities to address them effectively.
  • Establish relationships with supervisors and managers to handle occupational safety and health hazards.
  • Maintain knowledge of the recognition, evaluation, and control of occupational safety and health hazards through ongoing training and research.
  • Supervise external safety and industrial hygiene consultants to ensure they meet company requirements.
  • Chair the Safety Committee to coordinate resources for hazard abatement.
  • Manage costs while achieving safety program goals and objectives.
  • Establish proactive EHS programs and implement across multiple sites to reduce compliance costs.
  • Manage workers compensation claims and budgets with HR and insurance company.
  • Learn and improve manufacturing plant operations for EHS and operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 10 - 12 years of experience in Safety and Industrial Hygiene in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of safety, environmental laws and regulations, especially OSHA
  • Experience assessing plant's present status on occupational safety, health, and compliance issues
  • Experience choosing and advocating for a suitable plan of action to address concerns
  • Intermediate experience utilizing Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to multi-task and manage priorities efficiently
  • Experience working in a fast-paced and high-volume work environment
  • Proactive self-starter with strong attention to detail
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Safety, Engineering, Chemistry, Biology or related field
  • 1 - 2 years of experience as a safety coordinator or manufacturing team lead
