About the position

Corona-Norco is seeking a qualified applicant to fill the position of Head Varsity Coach. The successful candidate will demonstrate successful coaching for the specific sport, possess knowledge of fundamental and advanced techniques for competitive athletes, and exhibit appropriate personality and character traits for educational leadership. The role requires the ability to develop and maintain a disciplined program, along with strong management and organizational skills. High school varsity level, college playing, and/or coaching experience in the specific sport is required, along with CPR Training and First Aid Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Verify receipt of appropriate clearances from Human Resources and Athletic Director for assistant coaches before any participation with the team.
  • Plan and implement the scheduling of team activities, practices, and transportation.
  • Serve as an instructor and guide, following District policies, site procedures, and CIF rules and procedures.
  • Foster training in conduct, ethics, and sportsmanship for participants.
  • Assist participants in the development of physical and leadership skills.
  • Work closely with the assigned administrator or certificated designee to plan and implement activities and fundraisers.
  • Plan and implement tryouts that ensure equal opportunities for all students, ensuring the selection process is fair, consistent, and impartial.
  • Supervise the team before, during, and after practices, games, and sporting events.
  • Verify each team member is cleared by the Athletic Director before allowing them to try out or practice.
  • Collaborate with the Athletic Director before ordering athletic equipment.
  • Manage a safe and organized process of storage for equipment on campus.
  • Distribute and collect all equipment, providing accurate inventory to the Athletic Director as needed.
  • Maintain open communication with parents.

Requirements

  • High School or College Diploma, GED, or Official Transcripts.
  • First Aid/CPR/AED Certification - must be valid through June 30, 2026.
  • Coaching Education Course (e.g. Fundamentals of Coaching Education or other CIF Approved equivalent).
  • Concussion Awareness - issued on or after July 1, 2023.
  • Heat Illness Prevention in Student-Athletes - issued on or after July 1, 2023.
  • Sudden Cardiac Arrest - issued on or after July 1, 2023.

Nice-to-haves

  • Head varsity Girls Tennis coaching experience.
  • 5 years or more of varsity Girls Tennis coaching experience.
