About the position

Hatch is seeking a Geotechnical manager for its Earth Sciences and Engineering (ESE) Practice in Brooklyn, NY. The ESE group serves clients across our three business sectors, comprising engineering specialists, and design and implementation teams to staff studies and projects globally. We are committed to adding value throughout the entire life cycle of our clients' assets, from study to operation, and helping our clients reach their business goals. We provide project development, setup, and delivery through our innovative projects tools, while continually exploring new ways to improve project implementation processes. This exciting role will oversee our USA region business which has been expanding its footprint within the region and is poised for substantial future growth. Reporting to the Regional ESE Director, this role can be based out of any of our major U.S. locations (Pittsburgh or Houston) and be responsible for growing and leading a thriving group in coordination with colleagues around the broader global Hatch platform.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the overall regional leader for Hatch's Geotechnical business and be responsible for the growth of the practice in the market and financially.
  • Achieving and developing business development targets through client relationships and project pursuits.
  • Grow the team to match increasing workload and collaborate globally with the whole of the Energy global team.
  • Lead the bid development processes by managing technical proposals and providing written technical inputs as necessary.
  • Provide the strategic planning of short and long-term business direction.
  • Liaise, network and encourage collaboration across Hatch's disciplines and businesses that contribute to the overall Power offer.
  • Work closely with other managers on all ongoing projects and staffing.
  • Provide quality assurance of ongoing projects, reports, bid submissions and products.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering with a specialization in Geotechnical Engineering, or Bachelor of Science (Geology) with a specialization in the Geotechnical Field.
  • 15+ years of experience in Geotechnical Engineering with a strong consulting element.
  • Previous experience in leading and growing a team and function for commercial performance in a consultancy environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage project teams in a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Demonstrable track record of successful business development and achievement of targets.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively; build relationships and influence effectively, with colleagues, clients and stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills in complex and changing environments.
