About The Position

In this role, you will provide genetic counseling, risk assessment, education, testing coordination, and care collaboration. You will work closely with patients, families, providers, and healthcare teams to support clear communication, compassionate guidance, and coordinated care. Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Genetic Counseling required
  • ABGC board certified or board eligible required
  • Minimum of two years of experience in genetic counseling or a related field required
  • Familiarity with standard genetic counseling concepts, practices, and procedures required
  • Strong communication, organization, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations with professionalism and compassion
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn additional software as needed

Responsibilities

  • Provide genetic counseling, education, and support to patients and families
  • Assess patient and family histories to support individualized risk assessment and care planning
  • Help patients understand genetic testing options, risks, benefits, and possible outcomes
  • Interpret laboratory results and communicate findings to patients and/or providers
  • Educate patients and families on potential hereditary risks and health implications
  • Support patients through unexpected or difficult genetic findings
  • Address psychosocial and ethical considerations related to genetic conditions or test results
  • Partner with providers and healthcare teams to support referrals, testing coordination, and continuity of care
  • Write consultation reports and maintain accurate documentation
  • Support prenatal and/or pediatric genetic counseling services, as applicable
  • Triage care for further clinical consultation with the state medical genetics program
  • Maintain regular and consistent attendance as scheduled by department leadership
