Genetic Counselor Assistant Pediatric Medical Genetics
About The Position
Under the direction of clinical geneticists (MD/DO) and /or certified genetic counselors (CGC), the genetic counselor assistant (GCA) will be responsible for supporting the counseling, testing, and diagnosis provided by the clinic. The GCA will interview patients and document personal and family medical history prior to patient visit, coordinate joint visits with the CGCs, MD/DO, RDs and other ancillary staff, obtain testing authorization and approval, prepare samples for transportation to laboratories within and outside of HDVCH, facilitate follow up with referring healthcare providers and laboratory personnel and other patient preparation and follow up tasks to support the clinic staff.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Biology/Health Science
- 1 year of relevant patient/family contact in a community or medical setting
- Previous experience with clinical projects either in an administrative or clinical role
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical practice terminology
Nice To Haves
- 1 year of relevant experience in Prior Authorizations
