About The Position

Vitreous Retina Macula Consultants of New York (VRMNY) is seeking a compassionate, patient-focused, and skilled Part-Time General Ophthalmologist to join their team at their SoHo location. This position is ideal for a physician looking to build a strong patient base while serving one of New York City's most diverse communities. VRMNY is specifically seeking a provider who is fluent in Mandarin and/or Cantonese to help meet the growing needs of their multilingual patient population. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive ophthalmic care, collaborate with retina specialists and the clinical team, and deliver an exceptional patient experience. The General Ophthalmologist will provide medical and surgical eye care services, diagnose and manage a broad spectrum of ocular conditions, and help expand access to quality ophthalmic care within the community. This physician will work closely with retina specialists and the referral network to ensure continuity of care and outstanding clinical outcomes.

Requirements

  • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
  • Completion of an accredited Ophthalmology Residency Program
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Ophthalmology
  • Active New York State Medical License (or ability to obtain)
  • Strong clinical and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to providing outstanding patient care
  • Fluency in Mandarin and/or Cantonese

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a private practice or multispecialty ophthalmology setting
  • Established referral relationships within the New York City area
  • Interest in helping grow ophthalmology services within a rapidly expanding practice

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive eye examinations for adult patients.
  • Diagnose and manage common ophthalmic conditions, including: Glaucoma, Dry Eye Disease, Diabetic Eye Disease, Age-Related Macular Degeneration, Ocular Surface Disease, Routine and urgent ophthalmic conditions.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans and educate patients regarding their eye health.
  • Coordinate care with retina specialists, optometrists, primary care physicians, and referring providers.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record system.
  • Participate in practice growth initiatives and community outreach efforts.
  • Deliver exceptional patient-centered care while maintaining the highest standards of clinical excellence.
