The role of a General Merchandise Team Leader can provide you with the skills and experience of guest service fundamentals and experience building a guest first culture on your team. This position involves leading a team by planning department(s) daily/weekly workload to support business priorities and deliver sales goals, while driving process improvements and enhancing workload efficiency. No two days are ever the same, but a typical day will include executing daily/weekly workload to deliver on department and store sales goals and guest engagement, educating your team on operational procedures, and leading the daily execution of tasks such as receiving products and organizing the backroom.
Responsibilities
- Execute daily/weekly workload to deliver on department and store sales goals and guest engagement.
- Educate your team on how operational procedures affect inventory management and store profitability.
- Help assess reporting to identify gaps in GM processes and develop a plan to resolve them.
- Lead the daily execution of tasks such as receiving products, restocking shelves, and organizing the backroom.
- Assign daily tasks to team members based on planned workload and guest traffic patterns.
- Establish clear goals and expectations and hold team members accountable.
- Support guest services such as back-up cashier and digital fulfillment processes.
- Model a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance.
- Lead and demonstrate a safety culture through modeling and recognizing safe behaviors.
- Create a welcoming experience by greeting guests and engaging with them.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Age 18 or older.
- Previous retail experience preferred, but not required.
- Ability to lead and hold others accountable.
- Effective communication skills.
- Capability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment.
- Welcoming and helpful attitude toward all guests and team members.
