About The Position

The General Manager is responsible for leading and developing a team of Terminal Managers across the West region. Reporting to the Group Vice President, this role will oversee operations at multiple locations, focusing on safety, engagement, maintenance, train performance, and productivity. Regular travel to facilities within the West region is required.

Requirements

  • High School diploma required
  • 7+ years of experience in intermodal, transportation, logistics or warehousing operations
  • Demonstrated ability to work with all levels of employees and customers is required
  • Working knowledge and experience with lean systems including kaizen events, KPIs and metrics
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office / Web Based Data systems
  • Exceptional organizational, multi-tasking and time management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong work ethic
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions
  • Travel required

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • 5+ years Terminal Manager experience preferred
  • Financial management experience (i.e. budgeting, forecasting etc.) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Develops and drives terminal strategies through people, process and systems
  • Drives safety and continuous improvement culture
  • Builds collaborative partnerships between ConGlobal and local railroad officers to problem solve and improve terminal performance
  • Establish performance goals and standards for team
  • Responsible for the selection, training and development of management team to ensure customers’ needs are met
  • Collaborate with safety team to ensure timely reporting and investigation of all injuries and accidents and all incidents that have the potential for serious harm
  • Partners with Terminal Managers to ensure KPIs are met; train performance, cost per hour, etc.
  • Partners with all employees to drive employee engagement, development and retention
  • Ensures continued excellence in safety, profitability and service
  • Other duties as assigned
