About the position

The General Maintenance Worker at Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary is responsible for performing a variety of routine and preventative maintenance tasks under the supervision of the Superintendent of Plant Operations. This part-time role involves independent work as well as assisting with more complex maintenance and repair tasks across various trades, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine inspections and maintenance on plumbing fixtures and components.
  • Assist in planning and executing repairs for various systems.
  • Conduct inspections and preventative maintenance on boilers, pumps, and HVAC systems.
  • Perform minor repairs and report major issues to the appropriate personnel.
  • Collect and dispose of rubbish and materials set aside for disposal.
  • Assist with snow removal and major cleaning projects.
  • Make minor carpentry repairs and assist in floor refurbishing tasks.
  • Clear clogs or jams in toilets, sinks, and drains as needed.
  • Monitor and adjust environmental control systems in buildings.
  • Respond to emergency calls outside of normal working hours.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in maintenance and installation of utility systems.
  • Experience in plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry trades.
  • Ability to learn and become proficient in additional maintenance procedures.
  • Aptitude for performing routine maintenance tasks independently.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with custodial duties and grounds services.
  • Knowledge of safety practices and precautions in maintenance work.
