About The Position

Tessera is seeking a hardworking and detailed General Maintenance Mechanic with a positive attitude to perform general maintenance of facilities, including carpentry, electrical, and plumbing work. This role involves multiple assignments related to maintenance, cleanliness, and operation across multiple hydroelectric power stations. The mechanic will inspect boilers and other machinery, including overhead doors, making required adjustments or repairs. Responsibilities also include operating company-provided vehicles, trailers, and small equipment, using and installing lifting devices, conducting general maintenance of the vehicle and equipment fleet, and assembling, installing, testing, and maintaining electrical appliances, apparatus, and fixtures. Maintaining high proficiency in and adherence to all Safety Procedures and Policies is crucial. The role requires utilizing computers and/or handheld mobile devices for timekeeping, data entry, and managing assigned work, as well as using mobile maintenance and inspection devices to record service and repair activities. Professionalism in appearance and demeanor, and the mandatory use of PPE, are expected.

Requirements

  • Six (6) months of facilities maintenance experience preferred.
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in most semi-skilled tasks and all unskilled tasks.
  • Must be able to perform manual labor for extended periods in a variety of different environments, including adverse weather and high places.
  • Must have good manual dexterity, eye-hand coordination, physical fitness, and a good sense of balance.
  • Employees must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.
  • May be required to reach, kneel, walk, stand, and use repetitive motion for several hours at a time based on position duties.
  • Work may require repetitive motion, reaching, lifting, kneeling, and walking.
  • Standing or sitting for several hours at a time, climbing in and out of a vehicle, and up and down stairs may also be required.
  • Must have the perseverance to work effectively under pressure for extended periods of time.
  • A valid state driver’s license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera’s insurance.
  • Access to a federal military installation requires a REAL ID-compliant driver's license or an acceptable alternative, such as a U.S. passport or military ID, in accordance with the REAL ID Act.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances and installation access.
  • A background check and E-Verify will be conducted for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general maintenance of facilities, including carpentry, electrical, and plumbing work.
  • Perform multiple assignments related to maintenance, cleanliness, and operation across multiple hydroelectric power stations.
  • Inspect boilers and other machinery, including overhead doors, to ensure proper operation by making required adjustments or repairs.
  • Operate company-provided vehicles, trailers, and small equipment, including but not limited to lifts, generators, portable heaters, hoists, and pneumatic equipment.
  • Use and install chain hoists or any other lifting device required for the rigging of equipment and hardware.
  • Conduct general maintenance of vehicle and equipment fleet to include, but not limited to, changing tires, fluids, lamps, wipers, filters, and fixtures.
  • Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools/power tools.
  • Maintain high proficiency in and adhere to all Safety Procedures and Policies.
  • Utilize computers and/or handheld mobile devices for timekeeping, data entry, and to manage assigned work.
  • Utilize mobile maintenance and inspection devices to maintain a record of all service and repair activities.
  • Maintain professionalism in both appearance and demeanor.
  • Maintain and wear PPE as required.
