About The Position

SJS Executives, LLC (SJS), also doing business as SJS Industrial, is currently seeking a reliable, experienced, General Engineer to work full time for SJS Executives supporting a Federal Medical Facility in San Francisco supporting ongoing construction operations supporting their Master Plan. We are a Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) with 250 employees coast to coast and a headquarters in Virginia Beach, Virginia; we specialize in professional services to support federal and military organizations.

Requirements

  • In accordance with federal regulations, possession of a valid Real ID is a requirement for this position.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program OR degree in Architecture with professional qualifications recognized by AIA standards.
  • Knowledge of building systems including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structural, civil, and architectural disciplines.
  • Experience developing project requirements, scopes of work, and technical specifications.
  • Ability to review construction drawings, engineering calculations, specifications, and design documents for accuracy and compliance.
  • Knowledge of applicable building codes, life safety standards, healthcare facility requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously while meeting schedules and operational priorities.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with contractors, consultants, facility staff, and leadership teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and industry-standard design and project management software.
  • Ability to conduct field inspections, site visits, and construction observations in active healthcare environments.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work full-time onsite in support of facility engineering and construction operations.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a drug test and a thorough background check for access onto a military installation; please note the background check for this position extends past 7 years, in conformance with federal law and US Department of Justice guidelines for work on a military installation.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting facility engineering, design review, construction administration, or capital improvement projects in commercial, institutional, healthcare, or large campus environments, preferred.
  • Experience supporting renovation, infrastructure modernization, or master planning initiatives preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration or Registered Architect (RA) license, helpful, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and implementation of the facility master plan for a large healthcare campus.
  • Provide engineering and technical oversight for infrastructure, renovation, and capital improvement projects.
  • Develop project requirements, scopes of work, and technical documentation for planned construction and facility upgrades.
  • Perform design reviews for architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structural, and civil engineering projects to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and operational requirements.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, facility personnel, and project stakeholders throughout all phases of project development and execution.
  • Prepare conceptual layouts, in-house designs, feasibility studies, and preliminary cost estimates for facility improvement initiatives.
  • Review drawings, specifications, submittals, schedules, and technical reports for accuracy and constructability.
  • Conduct site assessments, facility inspections, and field investigations to support project planning and execution.
  • Monitor ongoing construction activities to verify compliance with project requirements, quality standards, and safety expectations.
  • Serve as a construction representative for assigned projects, including documenting progress, identifying deficiencies, and coordinating corrective actions.
  • Assist with project scheduling, budgeting, and prioritization of facility improvement projects.
  • Provide technical recommendations related to building systems, utilities, infrastructure, and healthcare facility operations.
  • Maintain project records, reports, and documentation in accordance with organizational standards.
  • Support emergency response and facility operational needs related to engineering systems and infrastructure as required.
