About the position

Under immediate to general supervision, performs regulatory compliance audits and inspections of Tribal gaming activities for the Tribal Gaming Commission. This position involves conducting comprehensive audits of all Tribal gaming operations in accordance with the National Indian Gaming Commission (NIGC), the Tribal Minimum Internal Control Standards (TMICS), the Tribal/State Compact, Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS), Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and applicable regulatory guidelines, policies and procedures. The role requires the use of various auditing techniques, including observation and interviewing employees, performing sample examinations, analyzing game performance, and reconciling accounts. The auditor will also assist in special investigations, assess managerial oversight, review compliance with regulations, prepare audit documentation, and present findings to management and other stakeholders. Continuous knowledge of industry trends and regulations is essential, and employees may be expected to perform a variety of office and field duties as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive audits of all Tribal gaming operations.
  • Use a variety of auditing techniques including observation and interviewing employees.
  • Perform sample examinations and tests of documents using statistical sampling techniques.
  • Analyze game performance using analytical review techniques and reconcile specific accounts.
  • Assist and coordinate with other divisions in special investigations.
  • Perform assessments of Tribal gaming operations for managerial oversight and internal controls effectiveness.
  • Review, interpret, evaluate, and document processes, policies, and procedures for compliance.
  • Prepare audit files, reports, and documentation in accordance with GAAS and SOP.
  • Articulate and present findings and recommendations to management and other parties.
  • Maintain knowledge of current industry trends, technology, and developments in audit and gaming regulations.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited two-year community college in accounting, finance, information technology, business administration or closely related field AND at least four (4) years of regulatory auditing experience; OR
  • Graduation from an accredited 4-year college in accounting, finance, information technology, business administration or closely related field AND at least two (2) years of regulatory auditing experience.
  • Must be able to pass a background investigation.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must meet the criteria for a gaming license and pass a pre-employment drug test.
