About the position

The School Aide at Challenge Preparatory Charter School plays a vital role in supporting teachers and students to create an educational-focused environment. This full-time position involves assisting in various school settings, including classrooms, lunchrooms, and during recess, while also helping with record-keeping and instructional support. The School Aide is expected to work collaboratively with staff to enhance the learning experience for students, particularly those who may be struggling academically.

Responsibilities

• Supervising student arrivals, dismissal, and late-arrivals
• Supervising sessions of recess and lunch
• Monitoring students during assigned periods within various school environments (classroom, restroom, hallway, recess, busing, field trips, lunch, playground, etc.)
• Assisting in preparing instructional materials and helping students in the use of these resources
• Maintaining a neat and orderly classroom by straightening chairs, tables, and clearing chalkboards
• Assisting operational and teaching staff with tasks including maintaining storage and supply areas, unpacking/checking materials, maintaining student files, updating bulletin boards, and making copies
• Supporting after-school and family events as necessary

Requirements

• Bilingual/Fluent in Spanish
• At least 2 years of demonstrated success in a school setting
• Trained in CPR to effectively manage an emergency situation
• Strong commitment to an inclusion model of education and understanding of the urban learning environment
• Ability to build a strong school culture and positive relationships
• Sound judgment and ability to navigate challenging situations
• High expectations for all aspects of school and ownership over results
• Strong work ethic, reflective, and continually seeks to learn and improve
• Desire to work in a team-oriented environment and collaborate effectively with colleagues
• Completion of Food Protection: Four-hour Certification Course for Soup Kitchen and Camp Workers
