About the position

The position involves working as a school psychologist, focusing on the assessment and evaluation process for students within state timelines. The role requires selecting and administering both formal and informal assessments to determine student eligibility for special education services, in compliance with federal and state regulations. The school psychologist will collect and organize relevant assessment data from various sources, conduct classroom observations, and participate in multidisciplinary teams to assist with the interpretation of assessment data and the development of intervention plans, ADA 504 plans, and Individual Education Plans (IEP). Additionally, the psychologist will provide staff development training, consult with parents and educators, and maintain effective relationships with students, parents, and staff. The role also includes compliance with policies and regulations related to assessment and special education services, as well as participation in professional development activities.

Responsibilities

  • Receive student referrals and implement the assessment and evaluation process within state timelines.
  • Select and administer formal and informal assessments to determine student eligibility for special education services according to federal and state regulations.
  • Collect and organize relevant assessment data from student's cumulative folder, classroom teachers(s), principal, support staff, parents, and outside resource people.
  • Conduct classroom observation and personal interviews.
  • Coordinate and participate in Multidisciplinary Teams and Case Conference Committees to assist with interpretation of assessment data, appropriate placement, and development of intervention plans, ADA 504 plans and Individual Education Plans (IEP) for students according to district procedures.
  • Serve as the Public Agency Representative for designated case conferences.
  • Provide staff development training in assigned schools to assist school personnel in identification and understanding of students with disabilities.
  • Assist classroom teachers with implementation of IEPs.
  • Consult with parents concerning the educational needs of students and interpretation of assessment data.
  • Consult with parents, teachers, administrators, and other relevant individuals to enhance their work with students.
  • Develop and maintain effective individual and group relationships with students, parents, and staff.
  • Assist in the selection of assessment materials and equipment.
  • Develop and coordinate a continuing evaluation of the assessment program and make changes based on findings.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
  • Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy in the areas of assessment, placement, and planning for special education services.
  • Comply with all district and local campus routines and regulations.
  • Participate in professional development activities to improve skills related to job assignment.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
  • Serve on corporation wide committees as may be assigned by the Superintendent.
  • Maintain a positive and effective relationship with supervisors.
  • Effectively communicate with colleagues, students, and parents.
  • Supervise psychology interns and externs throughout the district ensure compliance with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy in the areas of assessment, placement, and planning for special education services.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or higher in school psychology or a closely related field.
  • Five (5) years of experience in school psychology (preferred).
