About the position
As an Assisting Hands CHHA or Live-in, you’ll provide personal care, household support, and companion care services to help adults stay safe and independent at home. You will follow a written plan of care by a registered nurse and have the opportunity to develop close relationships with your clients while assisting them with activities of daily living, household support, meal preparation, and medication reminders. Shifts available include daytime, evening, overnight, and live-in options, with both full-time and part-time hours.
Responsibilities
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and healthy environment within the client’s residence.
- Performing personal care activities as outlined in a written Plan of Care.
- Providing nutritional support as needed.
- Reporting changes in the client’s condition.
- Assisting with the use of devices for aid to daily living such as a wheelchair, walker, or hoyer lift.
- Assisting with prescribed range of motion exercises.
- Teaching household routine and skills to family members.
- Measuring intake and output of fluids.
- Measuring and recording temperature, pulse, respiration, or blood pressure.
- Keeping records of personal health care activities.
- Observing appearance and gross behavioral changes in the client and reporting to the agency supervisor.
- Assisting the client with the self-administration of medication.
- Abiding by the agency’s infection control policies.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED required.
- One (1) year experience in the home or long-term care setting is preferred.
- Current HHA - Home Health Aide license listed in good standing with the board.
