Commonwealth Fusion Systems - Devens, MA
posted 12 days ago
Commonwealth Fusion Systems is on a mission to deliver the urgent transition to fusion energy. Combining decades of research, top talent and new technologies, we're designing and building commercially viable fusion power plants. And working with policymakers and suppliers to build the energy industry of the future. We're in the best position to make it happen. Since 2018, we've raised over $2 billion in capital - more than any other fusion energy company in the U.S. Now we're looking for more thinkers, doers, builders, and makers to join us. People who'll bring new perspectives, solve tough problems, and thrive as part of a team. If that's you and this role fits, we want to hear from you. Join the power movement as a Full-Stack Software Engineer. The Scientific Software team at CFS develops software that helps us understand and build superconducting magnets and tokamaks. Within the first 6 months, this role will assume engineering responsibility for an internal web app that supports the processing of superconducting material (HTS) from electrical testing through kitting into superconducting magnets. This app is a critical tool for CFS as we scale our magnet manufacturing, and it hosts the world's largest HTS test dataset. The app has been successfully operating for about a year. The project has a quality foundation built on modern TypeScript practices (with React and Next.js), and further feature development is needed to meet the company's growing needs. This position also has the potential to work on other projects. While this role primarily requires expertise in web software, it will also require learning aspects of engineering and applied physics, and "product engineering" coordination across various teams which use the app. Curiosity and clear communication across technical disciplines will be essential.
