About the position

The Perishable Manager at Food Lion is responsible for overseeing the Perishable Department, ensuring effective store operations to meet financial and sales goals. This role involves managing staff, maintaining high standards of customer service, and ensuring compliance with safety and operational guidelines. The manager will also focus on building strong relationships with associates and customers while promoting a positive shopping experience.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Perishable Department, including hiring, training, and developing department associates.
  • Supervise the performance of all duties and responsibilities of department associates and provide ongoing performance management.
  • Daily management of labor and coaching of associates to achieve productivity expectations.
  • Provide leadership and motivation within the store to promote a culture reflective of Food Lion's Guiding Principles, Core Values, Vision, and Strategy.
  • Support the achievement of budgeted financial and operating results.
  • Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with emphasis on friendly customer service.
  • Control store expenses through proper ordering and care for supplies and equipment.
  • Ensure department appearance, quality, variety, workplace safety, food safety, and sanitation are consistently maintained.
  • Monitor shrink ensuring that inventory is accounted for and provide coaching for associates to recognize and prevent losses.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Good understanding of store operations preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job.
  • Ability to lead and direct others.
  • Must meet minimum age requirements to perform specific job functions.
  • Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Must be accredited by the National Registry of Food Safety Professionals or similar accrediting organization as a 'Certified Food Safety Manager' or will be required to attend company provided training.
