About the position
Wellstar Cobb in Austell, Georgia is seeking a Full-Time Night Registered Sonographer to provide safe, age-appropriate care to patients by performing diagnostic ultrasound exams. The role requires flexibility in work hours and the ability to work independently while ensuring high-quality imaging services. The position involves patient care, quality control, and operational responsibilities, with a focus on effective communication and teamwork.
Responsibilities
- Verifies proper clinician order for procedure.
- Obtains complete clinical history and assesses for contraindicating conditions.
- Ensures proper patient identification and marker usage during exams.
- Reviews ultrasound images for clinically acceptable results and releases patients.
- Responds to emergency situations and maintains life support equipment.
- Assists other technologists in all modalities when needed.
- Observes patient condition and evaluates situations for physician intervention.
- Prepares patients for procedures and demonstrates sterile technique.
- Explains the purpose and nature of exams to patients to minimize anxiety.
- Participates in the orientation and training of departmental employees.
- Ensures equipment is operational and performs quality control checks.
- Restocks linens and supplies, maintaining a clean department.
- Transports and positions patients for procedures.
- Maintains individual productivity rate and keeps supervisor informed of responsibilities.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited Sonography Program.
- Registered Medical Sonographer or ARRT Sonography certification required upon hire.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through American Heart Association required.
- Minimum 1 year clinical experience preferred.
- Excellent communication skills for interaction with patients and staff.
- Ability to function independently and under pressure in a team environment.
- Detail-oriented with the capacity to multitask effectively.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in a fast-paced work environment.
- Additional certifications in ultrasound specialties.
