About the position
The Training Captain position within the Fire Department is responsible for assisting the Battalion Chief in the Training Division. This role involves managing and directing department-wide fire and EMS training, ensuring standardization of training across all three shifts, Fire Prevention, and Fire Administration. The Training Captain will ensure that training is completed to maximize point values for ISO ratings and maintain personnel certification requirements. The position requires performing the role of firefighter when needed to assist with daily staffing during training hours.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Battalion Chief in the Training Division.
- Manage and direct department-wide fire and EMS training.
- Ensure standardization of training across all three shifts.
- Ensure training is completed to maximize point values for ISO ratings.
- Maintain personnel certification requirements.
- Perform the role of firefighter when needed to assist with daily staffing.
Requirements
- Advanced EMT or Paramedic Certification
- Valid CPR Certification
- Utah/NFPA Firefighter 1 and 2 (NFPA FF-1 & FF-2)
- Utah/NFPA ADO - Pumper & Aerial Certification
- Utah/NFPA Fire Instructor 1 Certification
- Utah/NFPA Company Officer Fire Inspector Course
- Utah/NFPA Fire Officer 1
- Hazardous Materials First Responder - Awareness and Operations (NFPA HazMat Awareness & Operations)
- National Incident Management System
- Completion of IS100, IS200, ICS300, ICS400, IS700, IS703, IS800 within 2 years if not already possessed
- Six years total full-time experience with Ogden City Fire Department or a career fire department
- Valid Utah Driver License
