About the position

The Ogden City Fire Department is seeking applicants for the positions of Entry Level Firefighter and Lateral Firefighter/AEMT/Paramedic. The positions operate on a 48/96 shift schedule. The salary range for both Entry Level and Lateral Firefighter positions is $54,658.15 to $77,795.60, while the salary range for Paramedics is $71,055.60 to $101,134.28. Applicants must meet specific prerequisites and provide necessary certifications to be considered for these roles.

Responsibilities

• Respond to emergency calls and provide firefighting and emergency medical services.
• Participate in training and drills to maintain skills and knowledge.
• Perform fire prevention and safety inspections.
• Assist in the maintenance and operation of firefighting equipment and apparatus.
• Engage in community education and outreach programs related to fire safety.

Requirements

• National Registry or Utah Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (EMT Basic) EMT Advanced or Paramedic Preferred.
• National Fire Protection Association Firefighter 1 and 2 (NFPA FF-1 & FF-2).
• Hazardous Materials First Responder - Awareness and Operations (NFPA HazMat Awareness & Operations).
• Education Requirement: High school diploma or GED.
• Fire certifications must be certified through the Utah Fire Rescue Academy (UFRA) or other certifying agency that provides an International Fire Service Accreditation (IFSAC) or Pro Board reciprocity certification.

Nice-to-haves

• Field firefighting experience.
• Field emergency medical experience.
• Advanced NFPA firefighter, apparatus driver/operator, fire officer certifications.
• Advanced EMS certifications (Paramedic).
• Degree related to Fire Sciences or Emergency Medical Services.
