The Dockworker will be responsible for loading and unloading freight in compliance with DOT requirements, ensuring that all items are sorted and secured properly to prevent damage during transit. The role requires effective communication skills, as the Dockworker will interact with both internal and external customers. The position offers a competitive salary, with the potential to reach a top rate of $27.23 after six months, and overtime pay is available immediately after 40 hours worked. Responsibilities

  • Load and unload freight according to DOT requirements on and off of trucks by hand or by use of hand truck or dolly.
  • Sort and secure items in position on trucks according to DOT requirements or on dock to prevent damage.
  • Lift various types of materials including cartons, bags, cylinders, boxes, crates, drums, pipe, bars, rugs, etc.
  • Use common material handling tools such as carts, dollies, pallet jacks, and tow motors.
  • Stand, walk, push, pull, twist, carry, bend, reach, and lift both above and below waist level as required.
  • Work in a safe and professional manner to reduce personal risks and risks to fellow employees.
  • Comply with federal, state, and company regulations.
  • Process all paperwork daily associated with the execution of the job.
  • Be available and willing to work; exceptions require management approval.
  • Work in a positive, supportive, and cooperative way at all times.
  • Perform other duties as directed or requested.

Requirements

  • A minimum age of 17 years of age.
  • Must pass a NON-Department of Transportation DOT physical examination.
  • Must consent to a pre-employment drug screen with a negative result.
  • Ability to read and write the English language and perform simple mathematical calculations.
  • Consent to a ten-year check on work history, with any gaps of 30 days or more indicated and explained.
