About the position

The Director, in collaboration with the College President, oversees and manages the JCC Foundation's operations. This role involves planning, budgeting, implementing, and evaluating extensive initiatives to secure, acknowledge, and distribute private sector donations to the College. The Director also supports the Foundation Board and works to enhance the College's and the Foundation's visibility within the community.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design, development, and execution of a comprehensive development strategy for the College's Foundation.
  • Develop an annual fundraising plan to support the college's strategic plan and program improvement objectives.
  • Connect with businesses, industry partners, and corporate, foundation and government entities.
  • Oversee the Foundation's scholarship and grant programs, ensuring alignment with the Foundation and college mission.
  • Coordinate all alumni relations, cultivation and fundraising activities, and develop alumni programming.
  • Monitor all donor information and provide statistical and narrative reports.
  • Collaborate with the College's finance department to prepare budget and financial reports.
  • Oversee database management, donor development, relationships, and communication.
  • Support the Foundation Board and designated Board committee operations, developing agendas and minutes for meetings.
  • Participate in meetings and committees to communicate information regarding the Foundation and its initiatives.
  • Oversee selection and ensure fairness in scholarship selection and awarding.
  • Supervise professionals, paraprofessionals, technical/support and/or classified staff.
  • Train, support, and discipline staff as necessary.

Requirements

  • Ability to form trusting relationships and work collaboratively with faculty, administrators, volunteers, alumni and colleagues.
  • Demonstrated success in major individual gift fundraising, with a deep understanding of cultivating and soliciting prospects.
  • Knowledge of successful fundraising and comprehensive capital campaigns.
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred in marketing, business, public relations, or communications.
  • Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in fundraising and development, preferably within a community college or non-profit environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with Johnston County is preferred.
