About the position

The position involves maintaining an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with a strong emphasis on providing fast and friendly customer service. The role requires engaging with customers through suggestive selling techniques, both in-person and via telephone, to enhance their shopping experience. Responsibilities include answering incoming calls, resolving customer complaints, and ensuring cleanliness and organization within the department. The employee will also be responsible for implementing promotional displays, maintaining proper pricing and product presentation, and adhering to company policies and guidelines as outlined in the Albertsons/Tom Thumb Employee Handbook.

Responsibilities

• Maintains an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with an emphasis on providing fast and friendly Customer Service.
• Assists customers by making product suggestions.
• Engages in suggestive selling and other sales techniques via telephone, in-store intercom announcements and one-on-one customer interaction.
• Answers and responds to incoming calls appropriately.
• Receives and appropriately resolves customer complaints and reports to Store Director as needed.
• Rotates and discards outdated or spoiled product.
• Ensures cleanliness of work area and department.
• Implements effective promotional and seasonal displays.
• Ensures that merchandise is correctly priced and displayed and that shelves are clean and properly maintained.
• May be asked to assist in other areas of the Grocery Department.
• Ability to follow and maintain department standards and requirements.
• Working knowledge of company policies and guidelines as outlined in the Albertsons/Tom Thumb Employee Handbook.
• Responsible for ensuring proper code dating for all products within the department are being enforced.
• May assist with physical inventory taken every 6 months.
• Controls inventory to ensure adequate product quantity, quality and freshness and maintains inventory levels according to division directives.
• Stocks and rotates product.
• Supervises the processing of all reclamation as well as maintains orderly and in stock conditions in back room and all Frozen Food Department area.
• Controls shrink and cost.
• Implements correct product preparation techniques.
• Uses and operates related equipment such as pallet jack, hand truck, scissors, knives, safety cutters and Sterilox machine.
• Performs receiving duties including breaking down loads, verifying orders using invoices, inspecting quality, reporting shortage, stocking and rotating product.
• Adheres to product temperature and storage guidelines and follows proper packaging techniques.
• Processes administrative paperwork and maintains accurate department records.
• Accurately completes, maintains and monitors daily log sheet, sales and labor and other required paperwork and logs.
• Ensures that proper temperature levels for product are maintained.
• Complies with retail labeling laws, federal and state regulations, Company and code dating policies.
• Complies with all workplace safety rules and regulations.
• Ensures safety, cleanliness and sanitation of work area, cooler, equipment and display area, including code date compliance as required.
• Implements emergency procedures in the event of equipment and computer software malfunctions.
• Operates computer software and electronic ordering devices to order product.
• Complies with and ensures compliance with company grooming standards and dress code.
