Greets and interviews patients at intake, obtaining and updating demographic and insurance information. Maintains a high level of security for patient information, releasing it only to approved individuals. Answers phones and questions from patients, doctor’s offices, and families, directing calls as needed. Schedules and verifies patient appointments, communicating effectively with other departments regarding their patients. Verifies current ID, insurance cards, and necessary paperwork in the EMR, updating them during patient registration. Confirms ordering information with the patient and referral, checking for proper authorization and ensuring all forms/waivers are complete with appropriate signatures. Collects and updates co-payments, issues receipts, allocates payments, and follows workflows for voiding/refunding payments. Maintains a 2% error rate for report and billing information. Prints medical records upon request. Ensures SDMI Core Values are used in handling concerns with patients or staff. Requires strong Customer Service skills and the ability to maintain a positive team atmosphere. Must be adaptable to change, take initiative in identifying issues, and communicate effectively with the Assistant Office Manager and Office Manager. Performs all duties of the Front Office Receptionist, may assist other departments, and may perform other job-related duties for the efficient operation of SDMI.
