About the position

The Fraud Investigator II position at First Foundation Bank is responsible for assessing risks related to fraud and working closely with various teams to investigate and deter fraudulent activities. The role involves monitoring transactions, conducting research, documenting findings, and recommending actions to protect clients and the bank. The investigator must stay informed about industry fraud trends and utilize analytical skills to detect and prevent fraud effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor daily fraud alert transactions to identify unusual or suspicious account activity.
  • Perform reviews to identify potentially fraudulent activities on new and existing accounts.
  • Research incidents and interact with other departments and authorities to resolve issues.
  • Provide customer service to clients impacted by fraud, including identity theft detection and reporting elder financial abuse.
  • Review new accounts and suspicious activity reports related to external transfer services.
  • Assist in preparing reports and case file documentation to ensure compliance with policies.
  • Assess cases for regulatory reporting and complete Suspicious Activity Reports (SAR).
  • Interview victims, witnesses, and suspects to gather incident details.
  • Present case summaries to management for guidance on next steps.
  • Analyze transactional data to determine irregular activity.
  • Assist in creating and updating internal departmental processes and procedures.
  • Provide training and guidance to new team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of direct experience in Fraud Investigations.
  • 5+ years of banking experience in retail, operations, compliance, or BSA setting.
  • Working knowledge of bank fraud investigative and interviewing techniques.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
