About the position

The Food Service Worker plays a crucial role in providing food preparation and delivery services within a healthcare setting. This position involves ensuring that patient dietary needs are met, maintaining cleanliness in food service areas, and delivering meals and snacks to patients. The role is integral to enhancing the patient experience through quality service and communication.

Responsibilities

• Provide food preparation and delivery services, including following patient diet orders.
• Deliver and collect trays to and from patients.
• Ensure nutrition care diet orders are provided by offering appropriate menu selections.
• Act as a liaison between patients and the kitchen, communicating food needs to the appropriate department.
• Assist clinical staff in meeting patient nutrition care needs.
• Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen and assigned food areas.
• Receive cash from customers and perform retail café duties, ensuring service standards are met.
• Prepare beverages and food items to standard and maintain a clean work area.
• Deliver patient trays and snacks in a timely manner as ordered by healthcare professionals.
• Inventory and restock pantries, refrigerators, and freezers on assigned units.
• Maintain temperature logs for unit refrigerators and freezers.
• Follow cash handling procedures and policies.
• Clean tables, counters, and kitchen equipment, and sweep and mop floors.

Requirements

• Two years' experience in a healthcare food service setting preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to follow detailed written or oral instructions.
• Ability to work well under time constraints.
