About the position

The Food Service Department Head Baker is responsible for preparing food items that comply with nutrition and safety regulations while managing a budget. This role includes supervising food service personnel, ensuring a positive environment for customer service, and maintaining sanitary food preparation and storage areas.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare food items that meet mandated nutrition and safety requirements.
  • Supervise food service personnel in food preparation tasks.
  • Create a positive environment for quality customer service and staff retention.
  • Operate within defined budget and meal regulations.
  • Maintain sanitary and organized food prep and storage areas.
  • Accurately record required paperwork related to food service operations.
  • Direct assigned personnel to perform their tasks safely and efficiently.
  • Estimate food preparation amounts to minimize waste and meet budget.
  • Report equipment malfunctions to the manager for maintenance.
  • Inspect food and supplies for adequate quantity and quality.
  • Assist other personnel as needed to complete their tasks.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the food service manager.
  • Occasionally work after hours as required.

Requirements

  • Job-related experience in food service or a similar field.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to perform basic math skills.
  • Ability to work with diverse groups of individuals.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
  • Ability to report orally or in writing to supervisor as required.
