About the position

The Positive Youth Development Educator is a key role within the Division of Extension Positive Youth Development Institute, focusing on engaging Wisconsin youth through educational programming and community development. This position primarily serves Fond du Lac and Sheboygan Counties, aiming to empower young people by fostering their leadership skills, advocating for youth issues, and building community capacity to support youth development. The educator will design, deliver, and evaluate research-based programs that promote youth engagement and collaboration with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers and assists with planning outreach program activities, strengthens partnerships, ensures adherence to policy, and assists with program administration to promote stable and productive relationships between the university and local community.
  • Identifies, promotes, and maintains external partnerships to support the outreach program.
  • Schedules and secures resources and communicates logistics in support of an outreach program.
  • Delivers outreach program content and materials to community members.
  • Researches, develops, and facilitates outreach program content and materials.
  • Develops and evaluates curriculum and programs and provides recommendations for improvement.
  • Communicates plans, activities and achievements to Area Extension Director, Program Managers, partners, and relevant stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a field related to the position.
  • Demonstrated experience in programming and/or service delivery related to youth development.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to build and maintain professional work environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to effectively work with people from different cultural backgrounds.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in a field relevant to the responsibilities of the position.
  • Two years of experience leading, managing and/or evaluating educational programs.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and/or supervising volunteers and/or staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve conflicts.
  • Spanish or Hmong speaking, writing and comprehension skills; knowledge and understanding of Hispanic or Hmong culture.
