About the position

The Floating Counselor at Bay Cove Human Services is a full-time role focused on providing clinical support within the Substance Use Disorder Treatment continuum. This position involves flexible deployment to various programs, where the counselor will engage with individuals in recovery, conduct assessments, facilitate therapy sessions, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to enhance the quality of care provided. The role emphasizes creating a supportive environment and actively participating in the recovery journey of clients.

Responsibilities

  • Create a warm, welcoming, and safe environment for individuals served.
  • Engage and interview individuals to develop comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments.
  • Collaboratively design individualized service and aftercare plans.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to service planning decisions.
  • Facilitate individual counseling sessions according to individualized action plans.
  • Collaborate with the clinical team to facilitate various groups using evidence-based curriculums.
  • Provide individual or family counseling to help achieve recovery goals under supervision.
  • Complete all documentation in the electronic health record according to agency guidelines.
  • Participate in training, supervision, and professional development opportunities.
  • Provide crisis prevention and intervention as needed.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in social work or a closely related field preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Licensure as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC I or LADC II), Certified Addictions Counselor (CAC), or Certified Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor (CADAC) preferred.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in substance use disorder treatment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the substance use treatment continuum and community resources.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals experiencing behavioral health issues.
  • Intermediate proficiency with word processing and computer functions using Windows, Word, and Google Apps.
  • Professional clinical writing, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Demonstrated ability to work with individuals in distress from behavioral health issues.
  • Knowledge of community resources and aftercare placement options.
