About The Position

The City of Everett is accepting applications for the Civil Service examination process for FLEET SERVICES TECHNICIAN. The current vacancy is for night shift (4:00PM - 12:30AM). This is journey-level work in the maintenance and repair of automotive, heavy-duty truck, construction equipment, electric vehicles, and buses. The work involves responsibility for keeping city vehicles and equipment in good running order and, when repairs are needed, returning the equipment to service quickly and economically. The work involves tasks in the mechanical and electronic repair and maintenance of automobiles, buses, light and heavy-duty trucks, backhoes, tractors, patrol cars, graders, rollers, pumps, hydraulic lifts, sweepers, vactors, various watercraft, lawn & turf equipment, and electric vehicles and other assigned equipment. The work is performed under the general supervision of a shop supervisor and is subject to inspection while in progress and upon completion.

Requirements

  • AA degree in Automobile/Diesel technology from an accredited school OR a minimum of two (2) years of journey-level knowledge in Automotive/Diesel diagnostics and repair, which includes journey-level experience in Automotive/Diesel diagnostic and repair of equipment.
  • Possession of, or the ability to obtain within one (1) year of employment and maintain thereafter, valid A5, A6, T4, and T6 Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications.
  • Submission to a driving/accident records check.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire and maintain thereafter, a valid, unrestricted (except for vision) Washington State Driver License.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain within one (1) year of hire and maintain thereafter, a valid, unrestricted (except for vision) Washington Commercial Driver License (CDL) with the necessary endorsements as prescribed by law.
  • Obtain a City provided forklift certification within six (6) months of hire and maintain thereafter.
  • Resume – no longer than two pages.

Responsibilities

  • Maintenance and repair of automotive, heavy-duty truck, construction equipment, electric vehicles, and buses.
  • Keeping city vehicles and equipment in good running order.
  • Returning equipment to service quickly and economically when repairs are needed.
  • Performing mechanical and electronic repair and maintenance of a wide range of vehicles and equipment including automobiles, buses, light and heavy-duty trucks, backhoes, tractors, patrol cars, graders, rollers, pumps, hydraulic lifts, sweepers, vactors, various watercraft, lawn & turf equipment, and electric vehicles.
