About the position

The Fixed Term Instructor Construction faculty will support the mission, purpose, and goals of City College at Montana State University Billings. Responsibilities include teaching up to 30 credits for the academic year of program specific and program related coursework, collaborating with peer program instructors to ensure courses and curriculum meet student and business needs, academic advising of program students, retention and resource development activities, as well as delivering courses and teaching. This instructor will be expected to participate in ongoing outcomes assessment and deliver instruction for the Construction Management and Construction Technology programs. The faculty member will also participate in student advising and efforts to continually improve the delivery of programs and services for all constituencies served by the college.

Responsibilities

  • Teach up to 30 credits for the academic year in program specific and program related coursework.
  • Collaborate with peer program instructors to ensure courses and curriculum meet student and business needs.
  • Provide academic advising to program students.
  • Participate in retention and resource development activities.
  • Deliver instruction for the Construction Management and Construction Technology programs.
  • Participate in ongoing outcomes assessment.
  • Work with the Program Advisory Council to evaluate program curriculum and propose changes.
  • Maintain a commitment to improvement of all services, programs, and interactions.

Requirements

  • AAS in Construction Management, with BSLS, BA, BAS or BS in appropriate field or Minimum BA, BAS or BS in Education or applicable experience with teaching experience at a secondary, post-secondary or trade school.
  • 5 years of work experience in the field.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Highly proficient in MS Office Suite, especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • High level of comfort in the digital environment across multiple specialized software platforms.
  • Strong general construction work experience across multiple phases and types of construction.
  • Ability to maintain a properly equipped and appropriately supplied lab for up to 40 students.
  • Expertise and experience with CSI Master Format, AIA and AGC standard form templates.
  • Strong business management background with ability to provide appropriate instruction.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in appropriate field.
  • Construction law experience and/or contract compliance expertise.
  • PMI Project Management training and certifications - PMP, PMI-CP, CAPM, or other.
  • Experience with additional digital tools such as BIM and CAD platforms.
  • Experience teaching construction and/or management courses at a two-year technical or community college.
  • Experience teaching blended courses or online courses.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop relationships and partnerships with local/regional construction industry and business leaders.
  • First Aid and/or CPR training.
  • OSHA training/certifications.
