About the position
The Housatonic Valley Waldorf School is seeking a passionate and dedicated First Grade Teacher to join their community for the 2025-26 school year. This role involves guiding a class of students through their educational journey from First Grade to Eighth Grade, fostering a warm and imaginative classroom environment that supports holistic development. The teacher will be responsible for implementing Waldorf educational principles, creating engaging lesson plans, and collaborating with fellow educators to enhance the learning experience.
Responsibilities
- Create and implement imaginative lesson plans incorporating storytelling, art, music, and movement.
- Foster a nurturing and positive classroom environment that supports student engagement and development.
- Collaborate with fellow educators and staff to enhance the overall learning experience.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to support student learning and development.
- Adapt teaching methods to accommodate the unique needs and dynamics of the classroom.
Requirements
- Waldorf Teacher Training certificate or willingness to begin courses prior to the start of the new year.
- Previous experience teaching in a classroom setting, ideally in a Waldorf or Waldorf-inspired school.
- Experience with classroom management strategies that promote positive interactions and engagement.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Flexibility in adapting teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning needs.
- A deep commitment to the principles of Waldorf education and a genuine love for teaching young children.
