About the position

Brady Corporation is seeking a Firmware Architect to join our team in developing and maintaining the firmware architecture for our industrial label printing systems. The position is responsible for ensuring the overall integrity and consistency of the firmware design across multiple teams and components. The Firmware Architect will be successful in this position by leveraging their expertise in embedded systems design, leading technical discussions, and mentoring engineers to deliver high-quality, reliable solutions that meet product requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Define and maintain the overall firmware architecture for Brady's industrial label printing systems, ensuring scalability, modularity, and maintainability.
  • Collaborate with firmware development teams to align on architectural principles and ensure adherence to design patterns.
  • Lead technical discussions and decision-making processes related to firmware architecture.
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies and tools to improve firmware development efficiency and quality.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to firmware engineers.
  • Conduct code reviews to ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.
  • Document the firmware architecture and design decisions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 12 years of relevant experience in the field, including experience in a technical leadership role.
  • Extensive experience in designing and developing firmware for embedded systems, preferably in the industrial automation domain.
  • Deep understanding of object-oriented design principles and design patterns.
  • Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and multithreaded programming.
