About the position

The Firefighter/EMT position in Park City, UT, involves protecting life and property through firefighting, emergency medical support, and fire prevention duties. Under the supervision of a Fire District Officer, the role requires maintaining fire equipment and facilities while responding to emergencies and participating in community safety programs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform firefighting activities including driving fire apparatus, operating pumps, laying hose, and extinguishing fires.
  • Respond to medical emergency calls, examine patients, and initiate basic and intermediate life support as required.
  • Participate in fire drills and attend classes in firefighting, emergency medical, and hazardous materials.
  • Conduct pre-planning and inspections of buildings and fire suppression systems.
  • Maintain firefighting equipment, apparatus, and facilities, including performing minor repairs.
  • Engage in general maintenance work at fire facilities, including cleaning and upkeep.
  • Present community programs on safety, medical, and fire prevention topics.
  • Perform salvage operations such as water evacuation and debris removal.
  • Participate in physical fitness activities to maintain physical readiness for emergency situations.
  • Perform other job-related duties as required by the administration.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Utah Firefighter Level I Certification.
  • Utah Basic Emergency Medical Technician Certification.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or provide proof of appropriate work permit.
  • Ability to learn the operation of fire suppression and emergency equipment.
  • Ability to apply standard firefighting and life support techniques.
  • Ability to perform strenuous physical activities under extreme conditions.
  • Must be able to read and write in English.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and communicate effectively.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Utah Driver's License.
  • Stable driving history without record of suspension or revocation.
  • No felony convictions or disqualifying criminal history within the past seven years.
  • Must be of good moral character and industrious habits.
