About the position

The Fire Service Technician III position at Johnson Controls involves troubleshooting and repairing fire alarm, security, and access control systems. This role is crucial for ensuring the safety and security of buildings by maintaining and enhancing the performance of installed systems. The technician will be responsible for programming, repairing, and testing various systems while providing excellent customer service and adhering to safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair installed fire alarm, security, and access control systems.
• Perform panel repair/reprogramming and device replacement/repair.
• Resolve low voltage circuit troubles and conduct system testing.
• Organize and utilize technical resources and materials for efficient task execution.
• Complete and submit all required documentation in a timely manner.
• Maintain truck inventory to ensure timely response to customer needs.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 3+ years' experience with fire alarm, access control, security intrusion, sound, and communications systems preferred.
• Ability to interpret blueprints, diagrams, and specifications.
• Good working knowledge of computers is necessary.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Capable of performing physical labor, including carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 50-70 lbs.
• Ability to work in unusual positions such as climbing ladders and working in crawl spaces.
• Demonstrate a high level of customer service.
• Possess a valid driver's license and meet company driving record requirements.

Nice-to-haves

• Technical training preferred.
• NICET II certification preferred.
• Experience with CCTV and IT and IP networks a plus.
• CCNA, A+, and Network+ certifications a plus.
