About the position

The Fire & Security Inspector role involves conducting routine inspections, testing, servicing, and preventative maintenance on life safety product lines, including electrical, sprinkler, and suppression systems. The position requires working with low voltage wiring and devices, maintaining a structured inspection schedule, and ensuring timely completion of assigned inspections. The role emphasizes customer service and adherence to safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine inspections and testing of life safety product lines.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on electrical, sprinkler, and suppression systems.
  • Work with low voltage wiring and associated devices.
  • Complete Service Acknowledgements using communication devices.
  • Maintain a structured inspection schedule and complete inspections on time.
  • Input, retrieve, and archive inspection documents via laptop computer.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Documented experience in low voltage electrical systems and Fire and/or Security Systems.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and meet company driving record requirements.
  • Hold a Massachusetts Low Voltage Class D License.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of the Inspector Entrée Course (Electrical or Sprinkler).
  • Achieve NICET Level II certification after 2 years on the job.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for troubleshooting systems.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Capable of performing physical labor, including carrying equipment up to 50-70 lbs.
  • Able to work in unusual positions such as climbing ladders and working in crawl spaces.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including on-call rotation and weekends.
  • Willingness to travel out of town if needed.
  • Demonstrate a high level of customer service.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work with supervision.
  • Strong organizational skills and a positive attitude.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with hand tools and multi-meter usage.
  • Experience in reading and interpreting blueprints and diagrams.
  • 1-3 years documented experience in low voltage electrical systems preferred.
  • NICET certification preferred.
