About the position

The Fire Operations Technician role involves the installation, programming, and servicing of electronic fire alarm systems in commercial environments. This position is crucial for ensuring the safety and functionality of fire alarm systems in both new constructions and existing sites, requiring technical skills and customer service capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Installs and programs fire alarm panels.
  • Performs commissioning and setup of fire alarm and possibly some security systems.
  • Reads and follows schematic wiring diagrams and blueprints for equipment installation.
  • Conducts testing to ensure proper operation of equipment after installation or repairs.
  • Tests the system to the signal-receiving center to establish service.
  • Conducts End-User training on fire alarm systems.
  • Coordinates installations with fire departments and manages necessary records for emergency notifications.
  • Locates and resolves issues with damaged equipment.
  • Repairs or replaces inoperative equipment and tests for operation.
  • Troubleshoots existing fire systems and performs necessary repairs.
  • Contacts customers to verify installation schedules.
  • Maintains a professional appearance and demeanor while working.
  • Communicates effectively with customers to provide high-quality service.

Requirements

  • Must have multistory high-rise programming experience.
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. is required.
  • Technical school training is a plus.
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematic drawings.
  • Ability to operate fleet vehicle safely.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills are essential.
  • Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook are a plus.
  • Basic computer skills are required.
