About the position

The Fire Alarm Installer Level II at West Coast Fire & Integration is responsible for the installation and maintenance of Life Safety Systems, Fire Alarms, and Security systems. This role requires a high level of expertise in low voltage installations and the ability to mentor Level I installers. The position involves interpreting technical drawings, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and providing support during the installation and commissioning phases of projects.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret Climatec's and others' drawings to install Life Safety Systems, Fire Alarms, and Security.
  • Install conduit and wire for Life Safety Systems, Fire Alarms, and Security.
  • Accurately terminate low voltage wiring for Life Safety Systems, Fire Alarms, and Security.
  • Support installation personnel on project sites.
  • Provide information and support for other contractors on project site.
  • Assist in troubleshooting efforts during startup or commissioning of systems.
  • Provide support to solve building operating issues beyond system operations.
  • Assist in accurate estimation, design, and installation for building systems.
  • Document daily reports and prepare As-built drawings and Operation & Maintenance Manuals.
  • Define changes in scope for change orders and submit accurate timesheets.
  • Communicate relevant project information to supervisors and present safety meetings.
  • Ensure team works safely and responsibly, maintaining a professional image with customers.
  • Oversee material packing slips, equipment termination numbers, and job files.
  • Draft Requests for Information and Requests for Material/Equipment.
  • Report team member accidents and incidents, and evaluate system performance.

Requirements

  • Minimum of high school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Life Safety Systems & Fire Alarms and low voltage installations.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Knowledge of fire alarm parts/material is required.
  • Understanding of basic computer operation and proficiency in using email for communication.
  • Ability to work with electrical equipment such as volt meters and amp meters.
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic electric circuitry and read Fire Alarm design diagrams.
  • Understanding of the construction industry including safety and Fire Alarm codes.
  • Clear and concise communication skills, both verbal and written.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced knowledge of fire alarm parts/material.
  • In-depth understanding of troubleshooting and interpreting complex Fire Alarm system diagrams.
  • Strong familiarity with the construction industry, particularly regarding safety and Fire Alarm codes.
  • Blue Card Holder NICET Certification Holder.
