About the position

The Fire Alarm Inspector role at Johnson Controls involves conducting routine inspections, testing, servicing, and preventative maintenance on various life safety product lines, including fire alarms and sprinklers. The position emphasizes safety, technical training, and collaboration within a supportive team environment, aiming to ensure the operational integrity of fire safety systems.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine inspections and testing of fire alarm and sprinkler systems.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on life safety product lines.
  • Work with low voltage wiring and associated devices.
  • Complete Service Acknowledgements with proper coding.
  • Follow and maintain a structured inspection schedule.
  • Input, retrieve, and archive inspection documents via laptop.
  • Make minor repairs and programming changes to inspected systems.
  • Provide technical training to less senior inspectors and trainees.
  • Complete assigned inspections on time.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Fire alarm license required.
  • 1 to 2 years documented service experience in fire alarm or fire sprinkler.
  • Experience in reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, and operational manuals.
  • Experience with hand tools and multi-meter usage.
  • Aptitude for troubleshooting systems and performing repairs.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Capable of performing physical labor, including carrying equipment up to 50-70 lbs.
  • Able to work in difficult positions such as climbing ladders and working in crawl spaces.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends.
  • Ability to adhere to safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Able to obtain and retain required licenses by National, State, and Local codes.
  • Successful completion of the Inspector Entrée Course (Electrical or Sprinkler).
  • Possess a valid driver's license.
